I have thousands, maybe even millions of things to be thankful for. When I take the time to sit and think, or when something happens that brings fortune to mind, I find that the good outweigh the bad exponentially. I could focus on the negative things and have and will happen, but I feel that'd be just undercutting the narrative of the good maybe even in order to highlight it.
Among the things that make me happiest and most grateful in life, the opportunity to do good is among the top. Not an obsession, but absolutely a passion, I have a desire to have a positive impact on others. I could even realistically spend time earning a degree studying ethics, peace, and human development. When I'm able to see or just hope that something that I've done or said can help someone, I get happy.
I don't talk about this much- I feel that it could be off putting to hear; Benjamin Franklin talked about this same idea in his autobiography. I don't liken myself to him except that I find value in striving toward goodness (and figuring out what that even is).
